What is Bourdon Tube Pressure Gauge
What is the Bourdon Tube Pressure Gauge?
- It is the device used for measuring the high pressure at a point in a fluid.
- These devices give direct gauge pressure readings.
- They are portable.
- The most commonly used mechanical gauge is the Bourdon-type pressure gauge.
- It is a stiff flattened metal tube bent into a circular shape.
- It consists of a bent tube of an elliptical cross-section and a calibrated scale with pinion and gear arrangement.
- One end of tube A is sealed and its motion is transmitted to the pinion through the link E and gear.
- The other end B of the tube is open through which the fluid pressure is transmitted to the tube.
- The bourdon gauge measures the pressure inside the tube and atmospheric pressure i.e. it measures the gauge pressure.
